Important Lesson Information

We always want the lessons to run as smoothly as possible, but sometimes certain things happen which mean lessons don't take place, but yet the reason can be very simple and the lesson missed by merely a few seconds / or simply not going to the correct room. Please read below a few scenarios which happen on occasion, but if your child takes the steps described then hopefully the lessons can always continue to run smoothly as we always want the lessons to take place each week.

Leaving Academic Lessons

Your child will be expected to make their own way to the Music Department to find our teacher in one of the practice rooms. The subject teachers are not aware who is having an instrumental lesson, and our teachers will not come to collect your child. As we have been at the school for some years subject teachers are generally aware that our lessons take place during the school day, so all your child needs to do is to simply let them know that they will need to go to their instrumental lesson and all should be fine. It is then the responsibility of your child to make sure they are aware of any homework to be completed.

Lesson Room

Due to different activities taking place in Music Departments on a weekly basis your childs lessons will not always take place in the same room, so it is their responsibility to check all the practice rooms in the Music Department in order to find their teacher who may have had to change rooms that day. No lessons will be refunded if a lesson is missed for the reason that your child did not check all the practice rooms if the teacher was present in a different room.

Lesson Time

If on arrival at the practice room your child sees another pupil in the room, then please ask them to wait as the teacher may be running a little behind schedule. Our teacher is aware your child is due to attend a lesson, and if this happens then your child will still receive the full lesson time just so you know. Your child is also more than welcome to knock on the practice room door to alert the teacher. No lessons will be refunded if a lesson is missed simply because your child saw another pupil in the room and didn’t wait for their lesson.

Lesson Times Confirmation

Unless confirmed on the Lesson Confirmation email your childs lesson times will be displayed on our website so you know what the lesson times are for the half term and you will be informed by email (and text message to check your emails for the update) where to find the times. The lesson times are subject to change (as new pupils including your own child start lessons) and you will be informed via email and text message that there has been an update to the lesson rota on the website. It is your responsibility to check the times when there has been an update as there may have also been a day change as well, again you will be informed when a change has taken place. No lessons will be refunded if a lesson is missed simply because your child went to a lesson at either the wrong time or wrong day as the website had not been checked by you after the update.

Teacher Not Initially Present 

Sometimes our teachers have to leave the practice room for a very short time (to go to the toilet for example) so may not be present when your child arrives for their lesson. If your child arrives at the practice room, but initially doesn’t see the teacher and has checked the other practice rooms, but can see the teachers belongings (bag, music, coat etc), then please can you ask them to wait at least 5 minutes beyond their scheduled lesson time and should the teacher return then your child will still receive the full lesson time just so you know.  No lessons will be refunded if a lesson is missed simply because your child didn’t wait for their lesson.
